I’m 26 years old and I was born in Cabaceira Pequena just across the water from Ilha de Moçambique. I am the youngest of 12 children and when I was still small I moved to Ilha to live with my eldest sister.

My sister looked after me and helped me get through school, but from year 8 to 12 I had to pay for myself. I did this by selling Missanga beads to tourists. When I heard that UNESCO was looking for local people to train as tour guides I was very excited.  I was one of only 12 guides to complete the course.

I’m a Muslim man, I have a 6 year old daughter, support Porto Football club and teach Capoeira dance to young people. I am involved in Projecto Oceano where I am doing a course to improve my English. Ilha is my home and I love showing travellers around and telling them about it.
