Nahota (which means Captain in Enahara, the language of the island) is the name that Selemane is affectionately known as. Selemane has a vast knowledge of Northern Mozambique waters. He has sailed traditional dhows from Angoche to as far north as Tanzania, in and out of all the small bays and inlets.

He is responsible for sailing and maintaining our beautiful Swahili dhow, Edna. Selemane confidently navigates the Edna through the sparkling waters surrounding Ilha de Mozambique. He has a crew of three very competent sailors to help him – Momade, Renti and Sumaila.  Selemane has 13 children (yes 13) and lives in a small village near Jambessi, just on the other side of the bridge. He rides his bike to and from work everyday.
