It was a great pleasure to have the senior management team from Matanuska Mozambique (Banana Farm) with us again on Ilha de Mozambique for their second, weekend-long session of team building.
At Ilha Blue we have designed a program that maximises interaction with the natural assets of the island and its nearby surrounds. The program is 4 weekend sessions over a period of 6 months; a staged skills development culminating in the 2 day wilderness challenge on Ilha das Cobras.
The first weekend was all about snorkelling, anemone clownfish, and ‘noodling’. The aim was to witness firsthand the symbiosis / teamwork of the anemone clownfish and the anemone. More than half the participants can’t swim so the challenge and reward was enormous.
This weekend was developing sea-kayaking skills – getting in and out of a kayak, forward and backward paddling techniques, stopping, turning, safety and communication. Initial training began on Ilha at the small beach in front of the new ‘Ilha Cafe e Bar’. On the second day we sailed across to shallow lagoons and sandbanks of Cabaceira.
By the end of the day the whole team completed the paddle into the mangroves at Cabaceira on the incoming spring tide.
