“Ilha” (what the locals call Mozambique Island), is an exotic mix of Swahili, Arabic, Indian and Portuguese culture. What better way to find out about the history of this island was by arranging a tour with Ilha Blue. I took a walking tour that visited historical Stonetown, vibrant Makuti Town and everywhere else in between. The ability to interact with the local people was an extra plus.
Note: My hotel arranged the tour directly with Ilha Blue and they picked me up onsite. Because I was leaving shortly and didn’t have much local currency left, I also had the tour charged to my hotel room.
