Of all our trips, Ilha das Cobras is the most highly rated by travellers. Normally we don’t advertise it, instead we rely on word-of-mouth amongst friends. But now, when so many Mozambicans and residents are looking for a special adventure within Mozambique we figured it's time to open it up a little.
“We did the overnight dhow and camping trip on Ilha das Cobras and it was superb – the lagoon with its nesting cormorants and illuminated cave systems was otherworldly and the whole atmosphere was perfect.” Sam B Tokyo
For the next few months we have reduced the price for Mozambicans and residents, so if you are looking for something special to do with family or friends this is it. Sail by traditional dhow from Ilha de Mozambique to your own private camp on Ilha das Cobras, an uninhabited island waiting to be explored.
.
Part of the appeal of this Cobras trip is that you can make it your own adventure; no two people experience Cobras in the same way. Some people love the nature: giant coconut crabs, nesting herons and egrets, coral reef, dolphins (and July to October humpback whales) while others are there to relax, swim, kayak and lie around in rock pools. You choose: kick-back and relax or go for full adventure, or a mixture of both – its up to you.
We schedule our trips around the crescent or full moon to coincide with the spring tides. We’ve learned that this is the best time, when the extreme low tide makes it easier to go ashore in the morning and the ‘king’ high tide is better for kayaking the lagoon in the afternoon.
If you visit Cobras when there’s a crescent moon you will camp beneath a breathtaking canopy of stars, the fabulous Milky Way. Choose to visit on a full moon and you’ll be bathed in enough silvery moonlight to explore the rock pools at midnight – a surreal, unforgettable experience.
“On our final morning we had the opportunity to kayak and swim once more, before enjoying our delicious Zanzibar style coffee and sumptuous breakfast. To top off a perfect weekend, we left our island paradise with the gracious farewell from a pod of humpback whales just off the beach. Magnificent!!!”

“We spent two nights camping on Ilha das Cobras – it was definitely the highlight of our visit to Ilha de Mocambique. The island was a lovely place to relax, kayak and swim in the lagoon. The food was also absolutely delicious! The Ilha blue team were great and organised a fantastic trip for us!”
